Short Notes on 2006 Films
I'm really not in the mood lately to blog because of school and all but I try my best to keep on posting and I swear now that I will blog as much as possible. But dont you guys worry because I still constantly update my website....
Here are short notes of films I've seen thus far...
Little Children
I saw this film twice now and I have to say that I enjoyed the second time more than the first time. It was upfront and really powerful, poised with great performance from its leads. Kate Winslet steeping up a notch, this is one of her greatest performances to date. I was surprised thought to see great performances from Phyllis Sommerville and Jackie Earle Hailey.

Shortbus
Raunchy is the operative word. It has the makings of a crap film but au contraire it was not, and it turns out to be one of the greatest films of the year. It takes the sexual raunch-y-ness of 9 Songs but what 9 songs lacks is soul and thanks to John Cameron Mitchell, Shortbus has that. Kudos to the soundtrack.

Casino Royale
Probably the best since Sean Connery. This is a slap to those who think that Daniel Craig is not fitted for the role, he was perfect. The movie was fun, and it was pulse raising but it kinda lacks the intelligence that Bourne Supremacy has but nonetheless this Bond reboot is worth watching.
B
Children of Men
Alfonso Cuaron just keeps getting better and better, or is he just great? I am a big big fan of Y Tu Mama Tambien and actually thought it was the best film of 2002. I am also a big fan of Great Expectations and A Little Princess both of which if I would create top tens of their years, they would be in it. And not to mention the fact that he created the best Potter film to date. Children of Men is gritty, intense, bleak and undeniably memorable. Cuaron gets the best out of its cast most especially Clive Owen who gave his best since Closer. Michael Caine was very memorable and who would have think that he has this in him? Julianne Moore was perfect in her role though her screen time was scant. Chiwetel Eijiofor has the makings of a great actor. Cuaron has created this believable world where men can't impregnate anymore. Kudos to the art and set direction and to Emmanuel Lubezki's top notch cinematrography.

Borat
I have never laughed this much, ever! Think of this film as a psycho-political version of Jackass. There was never a dull moment and Sacha Baron Cohen was just down right infectious and funny. I was still laughing on my way out of the cinema. who would have thought that a movie about this guy, a guy whom i once called stupid and unfunny, would create such a glorious mockumentary.
